Comments from Wine Buyer Steve:
We have been very lucky to get our hands on this magnificent back vintage Barossa Valley Shiraz 2018. The region is renowned for producing top quality Shiraz and the winery that produces this wine has a wine making legacy that dates to 1852, stretching over six generations. This Shiraz just oozes class and distinction with beautiful full fruit weight and dark berry flavours and sells for $37.00 per bottle under the wineries brand. My score 98/100 – WACC Trophy.
About The Producer and region:
Wine has been a way of life in the Barossa since 1842.
The Barossa incorporates both Barossa Valley and Eden Valley, making it one of the only areas in Australia to have neighboring warm and cool climate growing conditions. There are some 750 grape growing families, many sixth generation, supplying quality grapes to more than 170 wine companies of all shapes and sizes.
The best wines of the Barossa sit comfortably alongside the great wines of the world. Barossa Shiraz and Eden Valley Riesling have led the way as regional heroes, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Mataro, Grenache, Viognier, Semillon and Tawny all contributing to the Barossa’s standing as one of the world’s great wine regions. With such a diversity of growing conditions and soil types across both valleys, and vineyards that have been tended by hand for many generations, you are bound to find a wine to call your own.
The producer of this fantastic Barossa Shiraz has a wine making legacy that dates to 1852, stretching over six generations. Today they are owned and managed by a fourth-generation vigneron. They are producing boutique wine using high quality products from select vineyard sites across South Australia.
What is Shiraz
The French and Americans call it Syrah, we call it Shiraz. A versatile variety and well suited to a range of climates, and can be found in most of the grape growing regions of Australia.
In hot climates (such as the Barossa Valley of Australia), Shiraz is more consistently full-bodied with softer tannin, jammier fruit and spice notes of liquorice, anise and earthy leather. In many regions, the acidity and tannin levels of Shiraz allows the wines produced from the grape to have favourable aging potential.
