About The Wine

This awesome oaked Geographe Limited Release Chardonnay was barrel fermented and then spent 12 months in BRAND NEW French oak barrels. This is a Chardonnay that is delicious for drinking now and over the next 6 years or so. Its generous, peachy melon fruit flavours are beautifully balanced by the lightly drying, fresh acidity. It has a lovely silkiness on the palate with great mouth feel and also the tiniest touch of oak tannin which contributes to it’s to good length. A great match with all foods!

This is a stunning barrel fermented Geographe Chardonnay. With a total maturation of 12 months in new French oak barrel. 100% naturally French oak fermented, it exhibits notes of freshly cut peaches, roasted cashews and jasmine, with a generous and bracing finish of rich stone fruits and a subtle buttery finish. The best chardonnay we have by far and will only get better over the next 10 years.

About The Producer

In the heart of the Geographe wine region sits a 20-hectare pristine parcel of land surrounded by majestic tall Karri and Jarrah Forest on three sides. The land is split by a gully through the middle with a source of natural water feeding our dams all year round. At an elevation of more than 200m above sea level it is a valley on a hill.

Dr Jim Watson decided to plant vines on the block 35 years ago after it was chosen as a perfect area for producing fruit for making wine. The vines today are 35 years old and represent some of the earliest vines planted in the region and are sourced from the earliest varietal clones. The varietals include Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

Over the years the block has produced award winning Cabernets, Cabernet blends, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay.

About the region:

With a strong tradition of discovery, the Geographe Wine region takes its name from Geographe Bay. The bay was named by French explorer Baudin, who first mapped the coastline with his two ships, the Geographe and the Naturaliste. The region wraps around the bay, extending from Harvey in the north, southwards through Capel to Busselton and eastwards to encompass Donnybrook and Ferguson Valley. Home to 57 growers, 26 producers and 36 different grape varieties, Geographe is the most diverse wine region in Western Australia.
