About The Wine
This awesome oaked Margaret River Semillon 2017 (Fume Blanc) was part barrel fermented and then spent 8 months in new and used French oak barrels. The wine displays wonderful lifted aromas of white peach and jasmine flowers with hints of vanilla. Complex layers of zesty lime. Peach and a fine line of classy French oak. The wine is elegant and refined and will age spectacularly with increased intensity and oak flavours.
Comments from Wine Buyer Steve:
This is a stunning 2017 Semillon in the Fume Blanc Style was partially fermented in seasoned French oak and stainless. Beautiful up-front flavours of peach with lime notes and a nice smooth finish with beautiful French oak characters.
The wine was also awarded 90 Points by Ray Jordan in 2019 who said ‘Great to see someone doing a varietal Semillon. It is a varietal so underrated and yet here is a thoroughly enjoyable wine capturing all those lovely characters of lemon lime and vanilla bean. It has had a smidgeon of French oak which draws out further complexity. A lovely wine for the next 5 years.
This is exceptional value at $15.00 per bottle as the winery sells it under brand at $35.00 per bottle.
My Score 94/100 WACC Gold Medal.
