Swan Valley Back Vintage Shiraz 2016
$12.00each
Custom Label DesignerAbout the Wine:
This Swan Valley Back Vintage Shiraz 2016 has complex up front small berry flavours and is very smooth. The fruit flavours do not dominate; they just sit back and let you enjoy the smooth tannins and elegant finish. The wine has benefitted greatly from bottle age. The tannin structure is subtle and light because of the good age of the wine. A perfect wine for our back-vintage range.
Comments from Wine Buyer Steve:
This Swan Valley Back Vintage Shiraz 2016 has a medium bodied flavor profile of black berries and complex fruits. The wine has spent 12 months in new French oak and 3 years in bottle which has resulted in a smooth red wine without overpowering tannins. It is a stunning aged and oaked red.
My score 93/100 – WACC Gold Medal

What is Shiraz?
The French and Americans call it Syrah, we call it Shiraz. A versatile variety and well suited to a range of climates, and can be found in most of the grape growing regions of Australia.
In hot climates (such as the Barossa Valley of Australia), Shiraz is more consistently full-bodied with softer tannin, jammier fruit and spice notes of liquorice, anise and earthy leather.
In cooler climates such as Frankland River the wine takes on a more elegant style with medium to full bodied fruit flavours and softer smooth tannin structures.
In many regions, the acidity and tannin levels of Shiraz allows the wines produced from the grape to have favourable aging potential.
