About The Wine

This Swan Valley Limited Release Chardonnay 2024 has spent 7 months in a combination of Hungarian and American oak and has gone through full malolactic fermentation and lees stirring.

This style of Chardonnay is alive with a searing acidity slightly mellowed by the oak influence and lees stirring. Deliciously nutty, a little toasty with a buttery texture and crisp fruit profile. This Chardonnay will age gracefully for years to come but is going down a treat now!

Comments From Wine Buyer Steve

Our company prides itself on dealing with family operated wineries throughout Australia. We find that these small operators put the most love and passion into their wines and the supplier of this wine commenced operations in the Swan Valley in 1933 with the fourth generation now running the vineyard. This is a beautiful oaked Chardy with beautiful nectarine, roasted nuts and peach flavours. Sensational value at $20.00 per bottle.  Score 95/100 WA Cellars Gold Medal.

About The Producer

The producer of this fantastic 2024 oaked Swan Valley Chardonnay was established in 1829 on a portion of land in South Guildford off the Swan River which makes this winery the second oldest in Australia. The current owners purchased the property in 1933 from the founding family. Four generations of family have now owned and operated the winery since 1933. The winery now makes over 35 different wines and is one of the most respected producers in the Swan Valley.

What is Chardonnay

Chardonnay grows well in all climates. Wines from vines grown in cooler climates show predominantly apple, quince, grapefruit and lime characters while those in warm and warm to hot climates are more peach and tropical fruit like. Fruit sourced from the Margaret River, Pemberton and Great Southern regions is used to craft some of Australia’s finest Chardonnay wines, richly flavoured and textured, well-structured wines.

Margaret River wines tend to be more powerful than those from more Southern areas, which typically are delicately flavoured and textured. Wines from both areas can show great complexity and length of flavour.

About the region

The Swan Valley wine region boasts Western Australia’s oldest vines. First planted in 1829, it has been under vine ever since. Vineyards were established and developed by a close community of multi-generational and multi-cultural families. Over time, this has created a passionate group of independent, hands-on winemakers, with deep ties to the region.

Being a natural food bowl, only 25 minutes from Perth city, the Swan Valley has always been home to growers and producers. The original market gardens have been joined by breweries, distilleries, chocolate and cheese makers and other ventures. Collectively, you have a rich diversity of “makers”.

While traditions endure, new ideas and sustainable practices are embraced as the Valley pioneers Mediterranean warm climate styles. This is history in the making…building on the deep knowledge of both the indigenous and immigrant forebears, whilst continuing to be “makers” that explore new paths to excite and delight wine lovers.
