What is Pinot Noir?

Pinot Noir is a red wine grape variety of the species Vitis vinifera. The name may also refer to wines created predominantly from Pinot noir grapes. The name is derived from the French words for pine and black; the pine alluding to the grape variety having tightly clustered, pine cone-shaped bunches of fruit.

When young, wines made from Pinot noir tend to have red fruit aromas of cherries, raspberries and strawberries. As the wines age, Pinots have the potential to develop vegetal and “barnyard” aromas that can contribute to the complexity of the wine. –

About The Wine

This is an attractive, medium bodied Pinot with particularly good texture and a good, rich, creamy mouth feel. It has attractive fruit flavours of pomegranate and raspberry with some smoky plum and sweet tamarillo characters. These fruit flavours are balanced by the super fine tannins which give the wine its good palate length.

Comments from Wine Buyer Steve

A lighter style of Pinot Noir, this can be enjoyed now with any type of food while it will also handle an extra year or two in the bottle and develop further complexity. Serve lightly chilled on a warm day. The winery sells this wine under its brand for $35.00 per bottle. It is an absolute bargain for from us at $20.00. Ideal wine for sunny afternoons, lazy lunches, or just slipping into the mood…
